Summary of Duties

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr Jean Celli in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health at Washington State University to support ongoing NIH-funded research projects on the mechanisms of cellular pathogenesis of Brucella abortus infections. Several projects on the molecular mechanisms used by this pathogen to survive and replicate within eukaryotic cells are available, including how bacterial effector proteins modulate host membrane trafficking pathways to promote bacterial proliferation. The successful candidate will develop and apply new and existing molecular and cell biological techniques such as bacterial genetics, confocal microscopy and live cell imaging, protein biochemistry and molecular biology to study pathogen-host cell interactions.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in a field related to the position description, are expected to be very motivated for career development and committed to driving federally funded high impact and high quality research, able to work independently and have demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in microbial pathogenesis, cell biology and/or protein biochemistry.
