Summary of Duties

WSU College of Pharmacy is seeking to hire a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy. This is a full-time, annual, non-tenure track, 12 month appointment. The primary site for this position is the Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Responsibilities include:
•Maintenance of an innovative clinical practice which may include:
-Psychiatric medication therapy consultations
-Assisting in medication reconciliation, comorbidity management, and therapy recommendations for patients involved in Crisis Services in the Emergency Department, and patients admitted to the Inpatient Behavioral Health Center
-Assess patient’s medication therapy for non-psychiatric comorbidities and work with patients and their insurance companies to ensure that medications are covered and provided to the patient before discharge
-Assist in the completion of Hospital Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) core measures, to be enforced by Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), through daily chart reviews and progress notes, smoking cessation counseling and prescribing, patient immunization, and collaboration with other healthcare providers to ensure high quality psychiatric care
-Act as a resource for Providence physicians who hold outpatient psychiatric appointments, including family practice physicians who are called upon to manage psychiatric disorders due to a lack of access to psychiatrists.
•Supervision of pharmacy students during clinical rotations
•Provision of instruction in various courses in the PharmD curriculum
•Provision of service to the department, college, and university
•Collaborating with college support personnel
•Development and maintenance of a program of scholarship

The appointment is a one year renewable appointment beginning July 1, 2018. Individuals with a strong commitment to an academic career and an interest in innovative teaching and clinical practice models are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will be expected to contribute scholarly work in their area of clinical expertise and support the college through participation in service related activities according to the College’s Promotion Guidelines.

The WSU campus in Spokane houses the main office of the Department of Pharmacotherapy. The department supports WSU-affiliated residency programs at clinical sites in Spokane, Yakima, and Wenatchee and will also support the PharmD program at the satellite campus in Yakima. The department integrates Yakima’s clinical faculty members into all aspects of the college including involvement in team taught courses and precepting students during their advanced practice experiences. Providence St. Peter is located in Olympia, Washington and is Providence Health & Service’s second largest Washington state hospital. Providence St. Peter features 390 beds in the medical/surgical tower with 42 private rooms in the emergency department (including a four-bed locked mental health evaluation unit), 18 beds in the Psychiatry Building, and 32 beds in the Critical Care Unit. This facility is a non-profit teaching hospital founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1887. Providence St. Peter Hospital offers comprehensive medical, surgical and behavioral health services. Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a PharmD and have residency and/or fellowship training in one or more of the following areas: teaching, general pharmacy practice, ambulatory care, internal medicine or family medicine. Specialty training in Psychiatry is preferred. Equivalent training and/or experience will be considered. Eligibility for Washington pharmacist licensure required.
