Summary of Duties

The Director for College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) will provide the direction and over sight of this federally funded program including unit operations, fiscal management, personnel functions, and related administrative functions and is responsible for establishing and implementing strategies to increase student participation, retention and academic success for Migrant Seasonal Farmworker students during their freshman year at Washington State University. Provides the leadership and direction; planning, developing, supervising, managing, and administering programs, strategies; responsible for directing and controlling program operations and is accountable for the allocation of resources and program results; providing direct outreach services to students and parents; establish and implement short and long-range organizational goals and objectives; represents the university to internal and external constituents; supervise the delivery and evaluation of program services to ensure progress and compliance in the area of student retention and graduation of program participants; support the Division of Student Affairs and the University strategic plan; utilize working knowledge of policies, principles and procedures of federal regulations outlined under the U.S. Department of Education Office of Migrant Education. The successful candidate will provide and execute the vision to address changing social, educational, demographic and financial issues that impact service delivery to students. Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements

Three (3) years experience advising/counseling students and/or coordinating student services programs for college students with migrant/seasonal farm worker and/or low-income backgrounds.
Previous experience with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Migrant Education Programs.
Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
Willingness to travel occasionally for programmatic and professional development purposes.
Bilingual in Spanish/English.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in relevant field.
Experience in the administration of a disadvantaged student program in an institution or higher education.
Prior experience with grant writing.
Evidence of oral presentation experience and written communication proficiency.
Knowledge of the policies, principles and procedures of a higher education institution and federal regulations are required.
Demonstrated cultural competency with migrant/seasonal farm worker populations and/or Latino/a populations (i.e. Awareness and/or knowledge of customs, values, communications, social behaviors etc. and how these interact and/or impact the college experience).
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors impacting and/or interacting with college experiences of students from migrant/seasonal farm worker families (i.e. student life, academics, retention issues, mentoring needs and leadership development.)
