Summary of Duties

The Development Coordinator will be responsible for increasing the level of support for the University with new program interest from individuals in the community. Specifically the Development Coordinator will work closely with other constituencies and units, urban campuses, and Foundation based development officers to advance the prioritized philanthropic revenue goals of University and act as liaison for collaborative efforts among the Colleges, other areas within WSU, and the WSU Foundation. The Development Coordinator will partner with others in support of donor relations and special events for the University that focus on fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship. This position involves travel locally in the Puget Sound area and on occasion out of state.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience in managing multiple projects and setting priorities.

Must possess, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Evidence of ability to build strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, constituents, and volunteers.

Experience in fundraising for higher education, or similar complex organizations.
