Summary of Duties

Working in the the laboratory of Dr. Wes Dowd, in the School of Biological Sciences. The research goals of the laboratory are to understand the interactions between environmental variation and physiological performance. We are particularly interested in potential physiological mechanisms of cross-talk between multiple environmental parameters and their relevance to the biological impacts of global climate change. The postdoctoral position is for an integrative organismal biologist who will study these phenomena in rocky inter tidal zone invertebrates, using both laboratory and field approaches. Assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students working in the lab.

Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Physiology, Biochemistry or related field

Preferred Qualifications

Creative and self-motivated candidates with experience in organismal physiology, high-throughput phenotyping, and/or ecomechanics as they relate to environmental stress will be given preference. Prior experience with constructing, programming, and/or maintaining environmental control systems (e.g., using Arduino or similar microcontrollers) would be particularly valuable. Strong quantitative skills as well as prior experience combining mechanistic laboratory and field studies will be viewed favorably.
