Summary of Duties

The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in selected aspects of construction engineering and/or management as it relates to the construction of heavy civil projects including, but not limited to, estimating, construction cost accounting, construction law, and project management. Additionally responsibilities of the successful candidate will include conducting research, participating in School committees, student mentoring, and a willingness to offer continuing education and short courses to industry and students.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:
Teaching a minimum of four courses on construction engineering and/or management topics including, but not limited to, estimating, construction cost accounting, construction law, and project management per year;
Develop a research program demonstrated by publications in professional and/or academic journals;
Participation in School committees and student mentoring;
Willingness to offer continuing education and short courses to industry and students.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline; five years of U.S. professional experience in a construction project management capacity; ability to conduct research and scholarly activities in a defined area of interest; ability to work in a team environment and to be involved in collaborative projects. For Associate Professor, the candidate must have a PhD in Construction Management or related discipline plus five years of teaching and research experience in an accredited professional degree program in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering by the date of hire, and at least 6 years as an assistant professor or equivalent. And, an ability and desire to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in selected aspects of construction engineering as it relates to the construction of heavy civil projects (e.g., estimating, construction cost accounting, construction law, and project management).

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Construction Management or related discipline by the date of hire. ABD will be considered with an expectation of completion within one (1) year of hiring date; professional registration/certification such as PE, AIA, LEED, CPC, or DBIA; previous teaching experience at the university level; demonstrated development of funded research and/or scholarly achievements; ability to develop and deliver elective courses in construction management; experience in heavy civil construction – roads, bridges, and associated infrastructure construction; experience and ability in alternative project delivery, facilities management, sustainability, or virtual design and construction (VDC); proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Primavera, AutoCAD, cost estimating software(s) or similar software.
